2015 Chasseur Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir
Swirling this deeply pitched Pinot a complex array of sweet dark cherry, boysenberry, black raspberry and humidor scents are liberated. Pomegranate liqueur -like notes and white and pink peppercorns in the background carry through on the palate. The decidedly youthful and extremely rich flavors brim with sweet-natured undercurrents of roasted grain, coriander and humidor spices that impart a velvety mouth feel which push the firm core of tannins to the background.
This historically low yielding vintage created wines of unparalleled weight. The fourth in a series of drought years in the west affected vine vigor and small crop levels never before seen. Warm dry weather was ideal for growing wine which brought in fruit with small bunches and shot berries. An early harvest usually means little fruit hang time which can beg the question of lack of flavor but the wines from this vintage are as flavorful as they are dense.
