Introduced by a deep and moderately intense nose of wonderfully pure Pinot Noir fruit and fit with precise, very rich flavors to match, this full-bodied offering emphasizes concentration and extract yet stops short of being unwieldy or outsized. It is supple to start and fairly firm at the finish with a few youthful angles and edges that await smoothing, and, while it impresses now with its very considerable fruity richness, it has all of the right pieces in place to find increased polish with age. Those willing to wait for three to five years will be happy they did.

Wine Profile
Winemaker Notes
Starting with the color of a shade or two short of ink this wine moves quickly to a kaleidoscopic of absolutely stunning aromatics of Mr. Lincoln roses, dried orange peel and hints of powdered sumac. An imposing effort, from the first sip it is immediately clear that this is a big and powerful wine that possesses outstanding mid-palate density. Dark currents, black cherry, black raspberry moves to just short of plum that shellacs the pallet in momentous proportions and then moves on to a long brooding finish.
Vintage Notes
This historically low yielding vintage created wines of unparalleled weight. The fourth in a series of drought years in the west affected vine vigor and small crop levels never before seen. Warm dry weather was ideal for growing wine which brought in fruit with small bunches and shot berries. An early harvest usually means little fruit hang time which can beg the question of lack of flavor but the wines from this vintage are as flavorful as they are dense.
