95 Points - Pinot File, The Prince of Pinot

"Moderate garnet color in the glass. Lovely aromas of fresh cherry juice, worn leather, wilted rose and vanilla. The mid weight plus flavors of black cherry and black raspberry have an ephemeral character. Satin in texture, with nothing out of place, and an extended black cherry fueled finish that transcends all other Chasseur Pinots in this vintage. Still superb when tasted the following day from a previously opened and re-corked bottle. A ticket to heaven."

Winemaker Notes
Inky dark, this aggressive Pinot is loaded with all spice, clove and juniper berry. The palate is as equally aggressive and starts out with cigar box, black cherry and then the ship is anchored with dark chocolate and a cosmopolitan of dark fruits. Supple yet refined this Pinot is unique to others in its class.

Vintage Notes
Could the 2014 harvest be on par with the 2007? The undisputed facts are that the vintage came from a wonderful growing season with nearly perfect timing for all phases; bud break, set, version and harvest. The yield was in balance so no one will want for more but not so large that the wines are without weight and color. The true sign of a terrific vintage is that little or nothing needs to be added at the must/juice stage and this vintage being no exception. All lots came in with proper sugars, great flavors and excellent acids so that little or no additions were needed at the fermenter. Could be one for the ages or at least for years to come.
