Hunter Wine Cellars, LLC Receives 2008 Best of Sebastopol Award
U.S. Local Business Association’s Award Plaque Honors the Achievement
WASHINGTON D.C., October 21, 2008 -- Hunter Wine Cellars, LLC has been selected for the 2008 Best of Sebastopol Award in the Wineries category by the U.S. Local Business Association (USLBA).
The USLBA "Best of Local Business" Award Program recognizes outstanding local businesses throughout the country. Each year, the USLBA identifies companies that they believe have achieved exceptional marketing success in their local community and business category. These are local companies that enhance the positive image of small business through service to their customers and community.
Various sources of information were gathered and analyzed to choose the winners in each category. The 2008 USLBA Award Program focused on quality, not quantity. Winners are determined based on the information gathered both internally by the USLBA and data provided by third parties.

Wine Spectator - Top 30 Pinot Wineries
Sometimes even producers are perplexed by what a vintage has to offer. During the 2004 growing season, Chasseur winemaker and owner Bill Hunter feared the worst during a September heat wave that hammered Sonoma with 100 degree temperatures. “I thought it would be a washout. But then about a month after harvest, when tasting the wines, I was very pleased,” he says."More Info

"You see a picture of estimable winemaker, Bill Hunter, just over there, and by now, you have probably read the caption for the photo. If not, let us simply tell you that Mr. Hunter is proving, in his latest releases, that he not only knows how to make good wine, but more importantly, that he knows how to make great, world-class wine. Of course, Mr. Hunter is not the only winemaker whose efforts deliver masterful expressions of Chardonnay’s incredible potential."More Info

Wine Spectator Praise for Pinot Noirs
"I’d put the 2004 Chasseur Pinots in the run-don’t-walk camp if you want to buy any. They are further proof of how far and how fast this grape has come in California. They’re excellent wines--well crafted, exquisitely balanced--and they show that Chasseur does what it takes to make distinctive wines, bending the styles to suit the grape and the winemaker’s preference." - James Laube Unfined, Wine SpectatorMore Info

Bill Hunter - A Top Winemaker in California
"Chardonnay- and pinot noir-maker, Bill Hunter of Chasseur winery, whose latest efforts have finished at the very top of my tastings, also rates highly with me. Only the fact that he has just now expanded his line, and many of his wines have only been seen for a couple of vintages, keeps Hunter from rating directly alongside Ramey and Hobbs for top honors." - Column by Charles Olken, Inside Bay AreaMore Info

Taking Sides in the Butter Battle - Wall Street Journal
To our surprise, this is a question we have been asked with increasing frequency over the past six months: Where can I get a buttery American Chardonnay? Or, as Jacqueline Jenkins of Riverside, Calif., put it: "The long-lost buttery Chardonnay of yesteryear -- oh, how we miss them." The reason we're surprised is that "buttery" is a word that was just about banned from public wine discourse several years ago. The fact that readers feel comfortable enough to ask about these wines again is, we think, a trend in the making.More Info
